UPDATE BELOW (after 1 month).Felt compelled to write something as there are no reviews for this product at this time.After 2 days of use, I can say that this adapter is quite nice. Using 2.4 signal band at 20Hz, I get a 130Mbps connection and while watching the admin page for my dir-615 router with dd-wrt installed, I can see the Tx and Rx fluctuates between 74 to 127 Mbps. When I switch to pure 40Hz band, the adapter connects at 270Mbps and the Tx fluctuates between 58 and 220 Mbps. Not bad I think.The router I have is not known for excellent coverage AND it is located in the basement with about a 30-40 foot straight line distance from my computer. There are 2 walls it has to go through. Still the signal is 4 to 5 bars/5 bars. I would image that the connection quality would be 5/5 for newer dual band routers.The adapter does have 2 Tx and Rx antennae as I do get higher than 150 Mbps for Tx and Rx routinely. But it is no where near the max speed on 300Mbps.Installation is a bit odd for windows 7 64bit. First install software on CD, then manually update driver for dongle by pointing to the proper driver in the install directory. You have an opportunity to enter in the SSID for your network but one weird thing in the configuration program is that you CANNOT use special characters in the WPA2/AES passphrase box. You can't use @#$%^&* etc. But when you reboot, you can use window 7's wireless config settings to connect to network. From here it is permanent and causes no problems. Just a one time hassle.The dongle is about 1 inch long. Sticks out farther than the nano adapters, but the signal quality is quite nice and having full N speeds in nice as well. It is about 1/3 the size of normal full speed N dongles.It does run a bit hot but this might be due to your computers design and where the usb ports are placed (near exhaust vent?). We will see if this causes reliability issues. I will update on this product regarding longevity.FYI, this is a JAPANESE product made in TAIWAN. This is not a CHINESE product.Took advantage of the special offer...2 dongles for $35.========================================================================After 1 month of use, the adapter continues to work well. The device does run a little hot but it has not been an issue yet. Will upgrade the rating to 5 stars after long term reliability established. I have noticed that it does power down to save energy.One consideration, when determining if your adapter is transmitting well is to determine the capabilities of your router. Most people do not have the best router available, such as an Asus Dark night or black diamond. These aren't available in big box stores usually. Even these routers have up and down transmission less than 90 Mbits/sec. So even if you connect at 130 Mbits/sec or 270Mbits/sec with this Planex adapter, don't expect transmission rates more than the 90 Mbits/sec your router can actually handle. As you can see the adapter dongle will most likely exceed the capabilities of your router. The average router only gets 20-40 Mbits/sec up or down. That means only 2.5 to 5 megabytes (Mbytes, not Mbits) a second. Don't expect that if you connect 270 Mbits/sec that you are going to transmit 34 megabytes a seconds.The upside is most HD streaming such as bluray files in mkv will usually be less than 40Mbits/s so with this wireless adapter you should be able to handle that without buffering issues.

What I intended was to create a private wireless access point through my computer that was plugged into the wall so I could use the wi-fi on my phone, 3DS, tablet, and other devices. It did not do this. Sure, the program it comes with (or you download, it was awhile ago so I don't remember) alleges that this function exists, but it does not. Could it be user error? Sure, but I've been on a computer every day of my life since I was 4, so I highly doubt it's user error. Also the program is written in very poorly translated English and has wonky wording.
