I ordered this to connect my Xbox 360 to my wireless network and it works great. I used to stretch a long Ethernet cable across the living room from my cable modem to the Xbox, but got tired of tripping over it.The router/client device comes with a mini CD with configuration software. I plugged the device into the USB port on my laptop and ran the configuration software. I have a secure network (with a password) and this software allowed me to tell the device the name of my wireless network and the network password. You will need a computer with a CD or DVD drive to set up this little router/client.I hooked it up to my Xbox and was able to log into Xbox live just as I did when I used to use the long Ethernet cable.The little router is powered by USB. It comes with a USB cable that could be plugged into the Xbox, but I have a bunch of 120v/USB chargers left over from various devices, so I just used one of those.I set up my own wireless network at home and I found configuring this device to be pretty straight forward.I also tested it with my laptop - I disabled the wireless network on my laptop and was able to use this adapter to connect my laptop to my network. I imagine it would work with anything that has an Ethernet port.

Great range on this thing, Very durable. The ethernet I received does not work, which is okay I had plenty.THIS IS THE SAME AS THE IOGEAR BUT $10 CHEAPER AS IT IS NOT BRANDED.Powered by USB is awesome, very small.Works as a gaming receiver for my xbox, always an open NAT, never any network issues!Just so you know, you can set this up WITHOUT using the minidisc(which would break my macbook pro's disc drive) and without wps.Just connect your laptop to LAN, and connect the WiFi device to your router. Type in 192.16.1.252 on your laptop's browser and BOOM it'll take you up to the setup screen for the device, where you can select the SSID for the wifi network and put in the password.

It took me several tries to get this configured properly. Maybe I was trying to do too much with it. I was trying to assign it an address as a gateway that wouldn't interfere if it ended up on my home network, along with making several changes to the subnet, masking, etc. Either way... after I reset it a couple times, I did things in a less "all-at-once" fashion, and it seemed to take all the settings. Once I got it configured, it worked without issue.It does require a windows application to configure, initially - so if you're running linux, I don't know what you'd do (Wine maybe?). After initial configuration, a web interface is available, as expected.It's powered off a mini-USB connection, which is handy, and has a reasonable wi-fi range. Overall I'm happy with it, and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for, but it did take some work to get it operational.
